Christmas events

The countdown to Christmas is well and truly underway with a host festive activities taking place at Rutland County Museum, Oakham Castle and Rutland Libraries in the coming weeks and right through until Christmas Eve.

The schedule of visitor attractions this year includes a festive crafts workshop, popup Christmas market and Victorian-themed celebrations.

Among the celebrations, the standout event will be a Dickensian-inspired Christmas weekend at Oakham Castle. Held in the medieval Great Hall, Christmas at the Castle features children’s entertainment, including crafts, traditional toys and costumes, along with carol singers and horse drawn carriage rides.

There will also be a Father Christmas’ grotto with real reindeer, plus festive food and drink.

“We’re all really excited about this year’s Christmas activities and events. There’s a great schedule featuring lots of fantastic visitor attractions across our amazing venues. We hope as many people as possible are able to come along and enjoy the festive fun.”
Councillor Lucy Stephenson, Portfolio Holder for Culture and Leisure
