Rutland County Council has published a new draft Corporate Strategy, setting out its ambitions and priorities for the next five years (2022-2027).
The Corporate Strategy will guide everything the Council does across all its services. It lists a total of 25 commitments covering everything from sustainable development and carbon reduction, to reducing health inequalities and supporting vulnerable people. The Corporate Strategy is directly linked to the results of the county’s recent Future Rutland Conversation. Each of the Council’s 25 commitments will help to achieve the aspirations that were voiced by residents throughout the Conversation and then captured in the final Future Rutland Vision.
The new Corporate Strategy explains how Rutland residents can help the Council to achieve each of its commitments over the next five years, and what the outcome will be if this is successful. It also outlines how the Council will transform the way it works over the next five years to deliver more effective and efficient services that are fit for the future.
Councillor Lucy Stephenson, Leader of Rutland County Council, said:
“All organisations need to work to a clear plan which explains what they want to achieve and how. The Council is no different and our new Corporate Strategy is designed to do exactly this. We want to be clear with residents about what we are working to achieve for them, so they know and understand what we’re doing. The recent Future Rutland Conversation and Vision are central to this. I hope everyone can see that we’ve listened to what was shared throughout Future Rutland and then absorbed this into our plans for the next five years. We want to keep talking and working with our communities, just as we did throughout Future Rutland. Your input is vital because we cannot achieve everything alone.”
As well as a series of clear commitments, the Corporate Strategy contains a Delivery Programme which covers the first two years from 2022-2024. It also lists all the policies (current and future) which will help the Council to achieve its aims.
A draft Corporate Strategy has now been published for everyone to read. It can be viewed online, where there is also an option for people to leave comments and feedback. Anyone who would like to read or comment on the Corporate Strategy but does not have access to the internet can call Rutland County Council on: 01572 722 577.
The Corporate Strategy is due to be submitted to Full Council in July 2022, where Councillors will be then asked to approve it.
