A new Shared Vision for Rutland containing long-term goals for the future of the county has been published as part of the Future Rutland Conversation.
The Future Rutland Conversation was first launched in April as an opportunity for the people of Rutland to have their say on how they would like the future of the County to look like. Families, businesses, and visitors were asked to comment and share their views on a range of important issues, from the environment and transport to health and education.
The Future Rutland Conversation will lead to the creation of a new Shared Vision for Rutland, reflecting people’s views and shaping common goals to support communities and local organisations with planning and decision-making. It has been organised and supported by Rutland County Council, which has published a draft copy of the Vision so that residents to provide further comments and feedback.
To reach this point and deliver a draft Vision, the Future Rutland Conversation has been through two stages already. Between April and June 2021, more than 2,000 people took part in surveys and discussions to find out what they value most about life in Rutland. This information was then reviewed and published in a series of 10 summary reports that can be viewed online at: www.rutland.gov.uk/futurerutland. Later, residents were invited to review these reports and provide further feedback on what had been shared by others.
All of these views and comments have since been translated into a Draft Vision for the future of the County. Adults, young people, businesses, and visitors are now being asked to read the Draft Future Rutland Vision and provide further feedback before 28 November 2021.
''Having asked lots of questions and listened carefully to everything you said, the Future Rutland Conversation now wants to know what people think of the Draft Vision that’s been shaped by local residents. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t taken part in the Future Rutland Conversation before. We still want to hear from you. We want to know if the Rutland of the future that’s described in the Vision is a place you want to live.'' Oliver Hemsley, Leader of Rutland County Council
There are lots of ways to get involved with the Future Rutland Conversation and share your views on the Draft Vision.
