Check That Your Voter Details Are Correct

Date Published: 27 June 2019

We're encouraging people in Rutland to take part in this year’s annual canvass of electors and respond as soon as possible, so that they can vote in future elections.

Household enquiry forms will soon be sent to all homes in Rutland as part of the annual canvass. This is so Rutland County Council can keep the electoral register up-to-date and identify anyone not currently signed up to vote.

For anyone who has previously told the Council they are happy to be contacted by email, there will be an opportunity to respond to the canvass online, rather than having to complete and return a paper form by post. Online responses must be submitted before 14 July 2019, after which paper forms will be issued.

“You need to reply to the annual canvass as soon as possible, so that we can check we have the right details on the electoral register for every address in Rutland. This will also ensure you can take part in future elections, such as next year’s vote for a new Police and Crime Commissioner. Please check your household enquiry form or email when it arrives and respond as soon as you can. Whether you respond online or by post it’s important that you take part.”
Helen Briggs, Electoral Registration Officer

If you are not registered to vote your name will not appear on the household enquiry form. The easiest way to register is on the Government's Register to Vote website, where you can complete an electronic application.

Voter application forms can also be supplied by post. If you need to register to vote you should still complete your household enquiry form.

Anyone who has recently moved house should pay close attention to the form and check their details carefully. Home movers are far less likely to be registered than those who have lived at the same address for a long time.

If you have any questions about the canvass or registering to vote, please contact our Elections Team: elections@rutland.gov.uk.
