Rutland Adult Learning and Skills Service (RALSS), which provides opportunities for adults to improve their skills through a wide range of academic and vocational courses, today announced the official launch of its new, redesigned website.

The website highlights the tremendous value of the service, which is helping more and more people in Rutland to access education and learning.

Improve your skills with RALSS

RALSS, which is based at Oakham Enterprise Park, recently retained its ‘good’ Ofsted rating for being able to reflect local needs. However, in a commitment to move to outstanding, the service continues to be transformed to further improve employability, community cohesion and become a lifeline for personal and professional development.

Over the last few years, the service has moved from strength to strength with enrolment figures now at their highest ever.

“We believe you are never too old to learn. For us, it is more than just a new website – it signifies our commitment to the community to increase the number of people in education by providing a more family-friendly learning environment, whether you are 16 or 60 years old”.
Councillor David Wilby, Portfolio Holder for Education

Delivered by Rutland County Council and Peterborough Regional College, RALSS offers apprenticeships and work-based qualifications, along with classroom learning in English, maths, accounting and ICT, leisure and languages. Employability and life skills at beginner levels are also provided.

Courses are now available for September 2018, offering a mix of learning approaches from face-to-face to more user-friendly online platforms.

As well as a cleaner look and feel, other noticeable improvements include:

  • better access for people browsing the web on smartphones and tablets
  • a new course finder making it quicker and easier to find information about courses
  • increased accessibility for people with visual impairments
  • improved navigation to help users find information and sign up online
  • further improvements to protect the security and privacy of user data
  • a full list of the 100 RALSS courses available all in one place
