Our Whistleblowing Policy is a key element in its arrangements to promote good governance and to guard against fraud, corruption or other types of improper behaviour.
The Policy provides convenient and confidential channels that allow an individual to raise a concern about any aspect of behaviour by a Councillor, a Council employee, or a contractor with a responsible senior manager.
We recognise that employees, agency workers and contractors may not always feel comfortable about discussing their concerns internally, especially if they believe that the council itself is responsible for the wrongdoing.
The aim of this policy is to make sure that employees, agency workers and contractors are confident that they can raise any matter with Rutland County Council that concerns them in the knowledge that it will be taken seriously, treated as confidential and that no action will be taken against them.
