Rutland Armed Forces Discount Scheme

The Rutland Armed Forces Discount Scheme has been set up to support service personnel and their families who are already living in the Rutland area as well as moving to Rutland from elsewhere in the UK or overseas. It is also available to our local veterans.
If you would prefer to complete a paper application. Forms can be collected from Rutland County Council, The King Centre, Barleythorpe and Oakham library.

If you have a visual impairment you can make an assisted application at Rutland County Council and the King Centre, Barleythorpe.  

To be eligible for this card, you need to be serving in the armed forces, a reservist, veteran or a war widow who is a Rutland resident.

Your card will be available for collection after 5 working days. 

You can collect it from Rutland County Council Offices at Catmose House, Catmos Street, Oakham, Rutland, LE15 6HP or The King Centre, Main Rd, Barleythorpe, Oakham, LE15 7WD.

You will need to bring proof of Rutland residency and proof of service.

Acceptable forms of ID include;

  •   Most recent council tax bill/demand or statement
  •  Financial statement issued by bank, building society or credit card company    
  • Utility bill for supply of gas, electric, water or telephone landline
These documents must be less than three months old.

  •  Military ID card 
  • Defence Discount Service Card

  • Certificate of service
  • Discharge Papers       

  • Pension Statement

Your information will be used so that we can administer your council tax account and collect council tax from you in accordance with the requirements of the Local Government Finance Act 1992 (and any subsequent legislation and regulations which apply)

Your personal data may be shared with other teams within the council in order to provide a service to you, to ensure our records are kept up to date or otherwise where we are required to do so under other legislation.  We may also share it with other local authorities, civil enforcement agents and other organisations to make sure that your information is accurate; to prevent or detect crime and to pursue debtors to protect public funds. We may share the data with third parties if we are required by law to do so, this may include the Police or Government Agencies.  We will not sell your data or use it for marketing purposes without your consent.

We will keep your data for seven years. This is in accordance with current legislation.
