Land may be contaminated by its previous use and contain harmful chemicals. When these chemicals could harm the health of people, pollute water supplies, crops or the natural environment the land is contaminated and steps are taken to stop the harm.
A register of contaminated sites exists, however in Rutland none have been added.
Developers of sites should contact Public Protection Section for detailed advice.
There are no sites designated as contaminated land under Section Part 2 (A) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 within Rutland.
