Uppingham Town Council
There were seven vacancies in the office of parish councillor, an election was called with four candidates standing validly nominated and therefore elected unopposed. The result of this uncontested election can be found on our results page. Further elections were planned to fill the remaining three vacancies. The latest of these was due to take place on 10 April, however, only one candidate stood validly nominated at the close of Nominations on 14 March 2025, and they were also elected unopposed. A further election will now be planned within 35 days of 10 April 2025 to fill the remaining two vacancies. Notices and information relating to the 10 April election are published below:

Nomination packs are now available from the elections office at Rutland County Council, please call 01572 720954 or email elections@rutland.gov.uk to obtain a pack. Completed nomination packs must be returned by no later than 4pm on 14 March 2025.
To be able to vote in this election, if it is contested, you must register to vote by midnight on Tuesday, 25 March 2025.
If you would like to vote in a polling station, you will need to produce valid photo ID - you can find out more about voter ID on the Electoral Commission website.
Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate or Anonymous Elector's Document valid for this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Wednesday, 2 April 2025. Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate can be made online.

Postal voting
If the election is contested, you can vote by post and we must receive your postal vote application by 5pm on Wednesday, 26 March 2025.
If your proxy wants to vote by post, you must appoint them before they can apply to vote by post - please make sure you leave enough time for this. The deadline for them to apply to vote by post as a proxy is 5pm on Wednesday, 26 March 2025.
Please note: they will need to contact the electoral services team using the details below for more details, and to request a further application form.
If the election is contested, postal votes will be sent out on or around Tuesday, 18 March 2025 with a second run being issued after the deadline for applications noted above.
From Friday, 4 April 2025, you can email elections@rutland.gov.uk or call the elections team if your postal vote:
- is lost
- is damaged - you'll need to return your damaged postal vote and bring proof of your identity to collect the replacement
- has been stolen
- has not arrived
If you want to cancel your postal vote, you'll need to put this in writing to us (including a wet ink signature) by 5pm on Wednesday, 26 March 2025, or you will not be able to vote at the polling station. You can either:
- post your cancellation request to: Elections, Rutland County Council, Catmose, Oakham, Rutland, LE15 6HP
- scan and email your cancellation request to: elections@rutland.gov.uk
- request a cancellation form: call 01572 720954
If you are too late to return your postal vote via Royal Mail you can also deliver yours and up to five other postal vote(s) by hand to:
- our Catmose offices, during normal office hours (8:45am to 4:30pm) up to and including polling day (10 April 2025) – please note you can no longer simply post your postal vote through a council letter box or leave it at reception. For a postal vote to be accepted you will need to ensure you speak to an authorised person in our reception area and complete a form. More details about the revised regulations can be found on the Electoral Commission website
- the polling station, on polling day (10 April 2025 - 7am to 10pm), where you will be required to complete a form with the Presiding Officer for your postal vote to be accepted
Please be aware that any postal votes delivered that are not accompanied by the required form must be rejected.
Proxy Voting
If the election is contested, you can vote by proxy providing we receive your application by 5pm on Wednesday, 2 April 2025.
Your proxy must attend your polling station to vote on your behalf unless they apply for a postal vote - see procedure above.
To change or cancel your proxy, you must email elections@rutland.gov.uk or call our elections team on 01572 720954 by 5pm on Wednesday, 2 April 2025.
If you do not change or cancel your proxy vote by this date, your proxy will not be able to vote on your behalf at a polling station if the election is contested.
