Starting secondary school in September 2025

The application process

The closing date for submitting an application for a secondary school place for September 2025 has now passed. 

• if your child is currently in year 6, an application should have been submitted by the national closing date - 31 October 2024. 
• if your child should now be in year 6 but is educated a year behind their natural year group, in year 5, an application should still have been submitted alongside a request that your child's admission to secondary school is delayed by a year. If you live in Rutland

• if you need to submit a late application, you must complete the paper application form. The online admissions portal is now closed.
• the application form allows you to submit up to 3 preferences of secondary school.
• you must submit your application to us even if you want to apply for a school in another area.
• our admissions brochure is available to provide you with full details of the application process and details of the schools available to you in Rutland
