Starting primary school in September 2025

The application process

The closing date for submitting an application for a primary school place for September 2025 has now passed.

• if your child was born between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021, an application should have been submitted by the national closing date - 15 January 2025
• if you are considering delaying your child's start at primary school, an application should still have been submitted alongside a request that your child's admission to primary school is delayed by a year.  More information can be found in our deferred entry guidance

If you live in Rutland

• if you need to submit a late application, you must complete the paper application form.  The online admissions portal is now closed.
• the application form allows you to submit up to 3 preferences of primary school.
• you must submit your application to us even if you want to apply for a school in another area.
