Starting primary school in September 2025

The application process for starting primary school in September 2025 will open for Rutland residents mid-October 2024, when full details will be available on this page of our website.

Children who were born between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021 will be eligible to start primary school in September 2025.

Each local authority is responsible for coordinating primary school admissions for children living in their area.

If you live in Rutland

• a letter will be sent to you, mid-October, with details of the application process
• our admissions portal will be available for you to submit your application online
• our admissions brochure will be available to provide you with details of the application process and the schools available to you in Rutland

If you live in another local authority area

If you live outside of Rutland but want to apply for a Rutland primary school, you must submit an application to the council where you live. Please check your council's website for details.

The national closing date for applications will be 15 January 2025
