Starting primary school in September 2024

Offers of primary school places for September 2024 were sent out on the national offer day – 16 April 2024.

Each local authority is responsible for coordinating primary school admissions for children living in their area who will be starting primary school for the first time, into reception year group, in September 2024.

If you live in Rutland

• if you need to submit a late application, you must complete the paper application form – our online admissions portal is no longer available for online applications
• it is important to bear in mind that Rutland primary schools may already be full
• our admissions brochure is available to provide you with full details of the application process and details of the schools available to you in Rutland
• we have produced a video which explains how your application for a school place will be processed
• there is an option for you to delay your child’s start at primary school and we have produced guidance on deferred entry which explains the options available to you

If you live in another local authority area

• if you want to submit a late application for a Rutland primary school you must submit an application to the council where you live
