Two year olds receiving additional government support
You will be eligible for a funded childcare place of up to 15 hours per week (up to a maximum number of hours per term) if your family receive at least one of the following benefits:
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- support through part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act and sections 95 or 98 of the Immigration and Asylum Act
- the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit or Working Tax Credit with a gross annual income of no more than £16,190
- Working Tax Credit 4-week run on
- Universal Credit with net earnings below £15,400
You are not eligible if you claim Working Tax Credits and Child Tax Credits at the same time.
Child Specific Criteria
If you care for a two year old child who meets any of the criteria below they will also be eligible for a funded childcare place if:
- the child is in receipt of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
- the child has a current Statement of Special Educational Need or an Education, Health and Care Plan
- the child is Looked After by the Local Authority
- the child has left Local Authority Care through Special Guardianship Order, Adoption or Child Arrangement Order
Parents/carers of children that fall into one of the specific criteria category will need to provide evidence to support their application
If you’re a non-UK citizen who cannot claim benefits
If your immigration status says you have ‘no recourse to public funds’, you may still get funded early education and childcare for your 2 year old. You must live in England and your household income must be no more than:
- £26,500 for families with one child
- £30,600 for families with two or more children
You cannot have more than £16,000 in savings or investments.
