Severely mentally impaired adults discount
If you live with an adult who has a severe mental impairment, you may be entitled to a Council Tax reduction.
Examples of a severe mental impairment include:
- Alzheimer's
- Parkinson's disease
- severe learning disabilities
- brain injury
To qualify, you'll need to:
- get our certificate completed and signed by your GP to say you’re severely mentally impaired
- prove your eligibility for certain benefits
Complete the application form and email to localtaxation@rutland.gov.uk or post to: Local Taxation, Rutland County Council, Catmose, Oakham, Rutland LE15 6HP.
Discount levels:
- if all adults have a severe mental impairment, an exemption will apply
- if all but one adult have a severe mental impairment, there's a 25% discount
- if there are two or more adults who are still counted, there is no discount
