Exemptions for lived in properties

Some properties are exempt from paying Council Tax.

In some cases, the property is only exempt for a certain amount of time, and you may have to pay a charge when the exemption runs out.

Time limits start when the circumstances for exemption first apply and don't restart until the property changes hands.

Which class of exemption do you think you may be eligible for?

M/N - Occupied entirely by students

O - Armed forces barracks and married quarters

P - At least on liable person is a member of a visiting force

S - All residents are aged under 18

U - All residents are severely mentally impaired

V - At least one liable person is a foreign diplomat

W - An annexe to a family home that's occupied by the family's elderly or disabled relative
