Details of candidates standing in the Barleythorpe Ward by-election on Thursday 24 July 2025 have been confirmed.
The official Statement of Persons Nominated for the election was published by Rutland County Council on Friday 27 June and can be read on our Councillor Vacancies page.
Candidates standing in the election are as follows:
- Andy Burton – Independent
- Andrew William Nixon Dinsmore – The Conservative Party Candidate
- Declan McCarthy – Reform UK
- Jonathan David Nichols – Liberal Democrat
The deadline for people to register to vote in time for this election is midnight on Tuesday, 8 July. The quickest and easiest way to do this is online by visiting the national GOV.UK website.

Applications, changes or cancellations for postal or postal proxy votes must reach our Electoral Office by 5.00pm on Wednesday 9 July 2025.
The deadline to apply for a new proxy vote is 5.00pm on Wednesday 16 July 2025. Rutland residents can find more information about postal and proxy voting in the general election by visiting our Register to Vote page.
Anyone voting in person at a polling station must bring a valid form of photo ID or Voter Authority Certificate with them when they go to cast their votes.
