An official notice has been published for a referendum on the adoption of the Uppingham Neighbourhood Plan.

The referendum will be held on Thursday 24 July 2025 to decide on the question:

Do you want Rutland County Council to use the neighbourhood plan for the parish of Uppingham to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?

Neighbourhood Planning gives local communities the opportunity to shape development in their area through the Localism Act 2011. Full details of the Uppingham Neighbourhood Plan can be found on our Neighbourhood Plans page.

Anyone with questions about the plan should contact the Uppingham Neighbourhood Planning Advisory Group by emailing: townclerk@uppinghamtowncouncil.co.uk. Further information can also be found on the Uppingham Town Council website

More than 50% of the votes cast in the referendum must be in favour of the Neighbourhood Plan to bring it into force. As the Local Planning Authority, Rutland County Council must then formally adopt the plan within eight weeks of the referendum date.

The deadline for applications to register to vote in time for this referendum is midnight on Tuesday 8 July. For more information about voter registration, please visit the national GOV.UK website.
