Greater Lincolnshire councils' reorganisation proposal
An option that includes Rutland is to be put forward in the Greater Lincolnshire interim plan for local government reorganisation.

Council Leader Gale Waller has issued the following statement after it was announced by North Kesteven District Council that an option that includes Rutland is to be put forward in the Greater Lincolnshire interim plan for local government reorganisation.
“After ongoing discussions with Lincolnshire councils, an option that includes Rutland is to be put forward in the Greater Lincolnshire interim plan for local government reorganisation. This option proposes North Kesteven, South Kesteven, South Holland and Rutland come together to form a South Lincolnshire and Rutland Council.
“This is the first time Rutland has had more than one option for reorganisation that is supported by neighbouring councils. It will now allow us to consider the detail and compare this with interim plan options put forward for the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland area.
“The two options that include Rutland are at slightly different stages of development so it's important to remember that this 21 March deadline is a checkpoint to make sure that councils are working together. Interim plans are not binding and can describe more than one potential proposal for an area, if there is more than one option to be considered.
“People are likely to have different feelings about these options, depending on where they live, work and spend most of their time. We must consider everything on balance and the next stage is to share these plans as widely as possible, so that residents can give their views as we work towards the Government’s November deadline for full proposals.
“Any plans need to be genuinely viable and meet the criteria that has been set by Government.”
