New Children and Young People's strategy agreed for Rutland
Rutland’s Health and Wellbeing Board has approved a new Children and Young People’s Strategy for 2025 – 2028.

Rutland’s Health and Wellbeing Board has approved a new Children and Young People’s strategy for 2025 to 2028.
This strategy has been developed with the Rutland Children and Young People Partnership who, collectively, are responsible for the delivery of key services for children, young people and families in the county. The strategy reflects their shared commitment to further develop partnership practice, increase integration of services where it makes sense to do so and to strengthen joint accountability for improving outcomes for local young people.
The vision of the strategy is for all children and young people in Rutland to be happy, safe, and successful and that they will be supported and empowered to be the best they can be. This will be achieved under the following headings:
- family first - we will do what works best for the child and implement solutions which work better for the child, their family, and practitioners
- whole system approach - we are removing silos and integrating pathways and structures
- expertise - specialist support available where needed
- local - children are supported to remain within their localities and families can access effective community support
- flexible - we are a learning system which can adjust to need, and our workforce is flexible and agile
- considered - we will always prioritise quality of practice and outcomes
- informed - we are evidence led and informed by the views of the children and families
Rutland County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Children and Families, Cllr Tim Smith, said:
"Approving the new Children and Young People’s strategy for 2025 to 2028 is a crucial step towards ensuring that the services and support offered to young people in Rutland are holistic, integrated, and tailored to their needs. This strategy demonstrates a shared commitment among the Rutland Children and Young People Partnership to provide a cohesive approach to improving outcomes for local children, young people, and families, ensuring our young people are not only supported but empowered to thrive, grow, and reach their full potential."
