People are being reminded to take part in the final public consultation around Rutland’s new Local Plan, before it closes on Monday 2 December.
The Local Plan sets out important planning policies for the Rutland area, as well as listing sites for additional housing, employment and other development, up to the year 2041.
This consultation, known as Regulation 19, gives people the opportunity to comment specifically on whether the Local Plan meets all necessary legal and procedural requirements.
Regulation 19 consultation runs until 4.00pm on Monday 2 December 2024, with people able to read the final Pre-Submission Local Plan and submit comments through our website.
Anyone without internet access can take part by calling the Council’s Local Plan Team on: 01572 720 902.
As the Plan has already been through multiple stages of development, the Regulation 19 consultation does not ask for views on alternative options. Instead, it offers a final chance to comment on whether the Plan is legally compliant and 'sound'. To be sound, the Local Plan must be:
- positively prepared
- justified
- effective
- consistent with national planning policy
Once the Regulation 19 consultation ends, responses will be compiled with the Local Plan and its supporting documentation before being submitted for independent examination by the Planning Inspectorate. If the Plan is found to be sound, it will then be presented back to Rutland County Council’s Full Council for adoption.
For more information about the Local Plan and each of its previous stages, please see our Local Plan pages.
