Carers in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) are being invited to have their voices heard and help local authorities get a better insight of how services could be best delivered across their area.
Our local authorities have been awarded time limited funding from the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) Accelerating Reform Fund (ARF) to support family and other informal carers in the area.
This funding will allow Leicestershire County Council, Leicester City Council, Rutland County Council and the NHS to work together with carers over the next year to deliver projects that concentrate specifically on carer needs. Carers are being invited to join us on the first of these projects which will look at how to implement an LLR wide contingency planning process.
A contingency plan helps prepare for unseen circumstances, should the carer be unable to support the cared for person. Some people may have a plan already in place and some may want to know more about them and how they benefit carers. Whatever your situation, if you are aged 18 or over and care for someone over the age of 18, we would love for you to come along to any of the following sessions and get involved in shaping the process:
- Tuesday 12 November at 13:00 to 15:00 - County Hall, Leicester Rd, Glenfield, Leicester LE3 8RA. To book or express an interest, please email carers@leics.gov.uk
- Thursday 14 November at 14:00 to 16:00 - The King Centre, Main Rd, Barleythorpe, Oakham LE15 7WD. To book or express an interest, please email carersteam@rutland.gov.uk
- Friday 15 November at 13:00 to 15:00 - The Brite House, Braunstone Ave, Leicester, LE3 1LE. To book or express an interest, please email transformation@leicester.gov.uk
Tea/ coffee, cake and fruit will be provided.
There are only 15 spaces at each event, so if over subscribed we will select attendees who care for people with a wide range of different needs.
We will contact all carers who book or express an interest. We are also looking at other ways we can work together including meeting virtually, individual face to face meetings or provide us feedback via survey.
To find out more about the ARF project and what other local authorities are doing, please read the ARF project summary analysis.
Rutland County Council values carers' voices, they are the experts with the everyday knowledge and experience of caring for someone who has health and social care needs. We urge carers in the area to please register their interest in the project, come along and give us the insight we need to ensure we deliver the best possible services across Leicestershire, Leicester City and Rutland.
