People living in Rutland will shortly receive a reminder to take part in this year’s annual canvass of electors.
The annual canvass is held between July and December each year and enables Rutland County Council to update the local electoral register by identifying anyone who is missing from the list. Those who are not named can then be offered the chance to register.
Reminder forms will be sent out next week to Rutland residents who have not yet responded to the canvass. If you receive a canvass letter with incorrect information, it means the wrong people are registered to vote at your address and you must respond with the correct information as soon as possible.
The form provides instructions about how to respond to the canvass online, by phone or via text message. The letter will also contain a prepaid envelope for a postal return if you are unable to use online options.
Local councils are required by law to organise and oversee the annual canvass in their area.
Anyone who would like further information or has a question about the canvass can contact Rutland County Council’s Electoral Services Team by calling: 01572 720 954 or emailing: elections@rutland.gov.uk.
