We expect the majority of our services to return to normal over the weekend, after Friday's heavy snow.

Gritting

Temperatures are forecast to drop to -5˚C overnight on Friday 10 March and into Saturday 11 March. Roads were gritted again on Friday afternoon and crews will be back out again overnight. Please take extra care on the roads.

You can find more information about gritting and our gritting routes on our Gritting page.

Schools

Schools, colleges, and Early Years providers are responsible for contacting parents if they are closing because of snow.

We publish information on our School and Childcare Closures page if settings tell us they will be closed.

Transport

Some local bus services resumed on Friday afternoon.

We expect all serves to return to normal on Saturday 11 March. Please allow for some delays.

You can find timetable information and details of how to contact your bus operator on our Bus Times and Travel page.

Bin collections

All bin collections were suspended for Friday 10 March. This included return collections to empty bins that were missed in Uppingham on Wednesday 8 March and Oakham on Thursday 9 March.

We plan to catch up with collections on Saturday 11 March or next week, if this is not possible.

Please leave your bin out if it has not been emptied yet.

Recycling centres

Cottesmore Recycling Centre was shut on Friday but will reopen as normal on Saturday 11 March.

North Luffenham Recycling Centre remains closed due to Severn Trent Water works.

Council buildings

We expect local libraries, Rutland County Museum and Oakham Castle to open as normal on Saturday 11 March.
