An official notice has been published for a referendum on the adoption of the Market Overton Neighbourhood Plan.

The Referendum will be held on Thursday 23 February 2023 to decide the question:

Do you want Rutland County Council to use the neighbourhood plan for the Parish of Market Overton to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?

Neighbourhood Planning gives local communities the opportunity to shape development in their area through the Localism Act 2011.

Full details of the Market Overton Neighbourhood Plan can be found on our Planning Policy pages

Anyone with questions about the Plan is advised to contact Market Overton Parish Council.

More than 50% of the votes cast must be in favour of the Neighbourhood Plan to bring it into force. As the Local Planning Authority, Rutland County Council must then formally adopt the Plan within eight weeks of the referendum.

Further details can be found in the full Notice of Referendum, published on our Elections pages.

Polling stations in the referendum will not have copies of the Neighbourhood Plan and polling staff are unable to answer any questions about the proposals.
