Rutland Youth Council

About the role of the Youth Council and how you can get involved

The Rutland Youth Council (RYC) is a decision-making and discussion group made up of young people from Rutland.

RYC meet once a month to talk about issues that affect young people and take action on these issues.

The role of a RYC member includes:

  • peer consultation
  • delivering presentations at conferences
  • meeting with Cabinet members of Rutland County Council
  • planning local campaigns

It may sound like a lot of work - but there's lots of fun, too.

Members get to go on a weekend residential once a year.

There are rewards and incentives, with vouchers and trips for all the hard work they do.

If you're serious about getting involved in making a difference for young people, this is definitely the project for you!

Elections are held once a year - but there are chances to join at other times, too.
