Memorials
We inspect and test memorials in Oakham Cemetery for safety reasons.
If a memorial is dangerous or unsafe, we may:
- leave it flat on the grave space
- cordon the grave off
- erect a warning sign
Please do not remove these - contact our cemeteries office for information: burials@rutland.gov.uk.
Seasonal memorabilia
You can place seasonal memorabilia at the head end of the grave plot or secured to the headstone.
You can secure wreaths with natural materials - items like metal pins or hooks will be removed without notice.
The owner of the Exclusive Right of Burial is responsible for removing any memorabilia, but we will remove items after two months as part of our routine maintenance works.
