Equipment, aids and adaptions

Introduction

This service is for adults and children living in Rutland in the community.

The aim of occupational therapy services is to help you to remain independent living in your own home for as long as possible, reducing, or delaying the need for care support.

This includes:

  • equipment to help make daily tasks easier e.g. getting on and off furniture, accessing your bath or shower, being able to prepare meals
  • adapting your home where equipment cannot meet your needs to help you access your home safely - this can include minor adaptations like a grab rail to help you manage your front doorstep, stair rails to help manage the stairs to larger adaptations such as a walk-in shower room, stair lift, or ramping if you are a wheelchair user
  • therapy services support with hospital discharges through the reablement service for more information see the link below in advice and support
