Access 2 Work

Rutland County Council and emda (East Midlands Development Agency) have invested in a suite of 20 new PCs and other equipment to help Rutland residents’ access job information.

Housed in Oakham Library, the PCs act as important information points to those who are unemployed, featuring desk-top links for jobs searches, volunteering opportunities, and employment advice services.

PJT Employability logo As part of the project (known as “Access to Work”) an Information, Advice and Guidance worker from our partner organisation PJT Employability, is available two mornings a week (Mondays and Wednesdays – 9am–12noon and 1pm-4pm) to offer advice and support to those seeking work including National Careers Service appointments. The sessions are drop-in sessions, and one to one appointments are also available. Sessions are FREE to attend. Job seekers are able to receive help with CVs, application forms, interview techniques, job searching & courses.

Free printing is also being offered for job seekers during the sessions and a Smart Board has been installed in the library to assist with workshops.

The service has helped many people access job websites and the services that they need in order to get employment within the county.

Help with using computers

Oakham Library has two 'Digital Champi Digital Champion logo on' volunteers available most Monday mornings and Wednesday afternoons to offer 1-2-1 help with basic internet and computer use in the Access2Work IT suite. Booking is not required but is advisable. Contact Oakham Library on 01572 722918 for details.

Help with Basic Skills

Want to get a numeracy, literacy or ICT qualification to improve your chances of employment, or just want to improve your skills to keep up with the kids? Drop in to the Access2Work suite on a Tuesday morning to see Rutland Adult Learning's Basic Skills tutor Ian Calder.

PJT Employability

PJT Employability are now based in Oakham Library two days per week (Monday and Wednesday) offering Job advice and training opportunities for those unemployed or 'at risk' of redundancy. Free CSCS practice testing is also available. PJT also offer help with getting online and basic computing skills to anyone who would like to learn (not just the unemployed).
