Access 2 Work

Rutland Library Service have a suite of PCs and other equipment to help Rutland residents’ access job information.

Housed in Oakham Library, the PCs act as important information points to those who are unemployed, featuring desk-top links for jobs searches, volunteering opportunities, and employment advice services.

Rutland Adult Learning offer a Work Club with additional free advice, guidance and training sessions in the Access2Work hub from 1pm-4pm every week on Wednesdays.

In addition to these advice sessions, Oakham Library runs self-service Job Search sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays. Free printing is being offered for job seekers on Mondays and Wednesdays. The service has helped many people access job websites and the services that they need in order to get employment within the county.

Please note: There will be no session half-term Wednesday 3rd April and Wednesday 10th April.

PJT Employability logo As part of the project an Information, Advice and Guidance worker from our partner organisation PJT Employability, is available one day a month (The First Wednesday of the month – 9am–12noon and 1pm-4pm) to offer advice and support to those seeking work including National Careers Service appointments. The sessions are drop-in sessions, and additional one to one appointments are also available. Sessions are FREE to attend. Job seekers are able to receive help with CVs, application forms, interview techniques, job searching & courses.

Help with using computers

Oakham Library has a 'Digital Champi Digital Champion logo on' volunteer available most Monday mornings for drop-in, and appointments on Wednesday mornings, to offer 1-2-1 help with basic internet and computer use in the Access2Work IT suite.

The Access2Work suite now features a PC set up specifically for left-handed users. We also have software for Dyslexic and Visually Impaired customers. Booking for IT help is not required but is advisable. Contact Oakham Library on 01572 722918 for details.

Other Advice Sessions in Rutland

Aspiro offer specialist employment support for mental health and learning disability service users, providing expert information, advice and guidance on work, help with CVs, job applications and interviews.

Aspiro currently offer an Employment Clinic at Voluntary Action Rutland, Lands End Way, Oakham, Rutland, LE15 6RB. Sessions are fortnightly on Thursdays 1.30pm-3.30pm. Please telephone Kathy Hammond on 07714 754588 or 0800 098 8708 for an appointment.
