Planning consultations

Consultations are undertaken on most planning applications in order to ascertain the opinion of others who may be affected by the proposal in either a negative or positive way.

Consultees may be statutory (e.g organisations with a professional interest such as English Heritage or County Archaeology) or non-statutory (e.g. neighbours).

Consultation is undertaken by means of a letter to a consultee or by means of a site notice posted near to the development site. The Local Planning Authority may also publish a notice in the Rutland Times newspaper where necessary.
