Rutland County Museum and Visitor Centre
| Rutland County Museum and Visitor Centre is the perfect introduction to England’s smallest county.
The "Welcome to Rutland" display tells the story of the county, and compliments displays of archaeology, history and rural life.
The Visitor Information Area holds the latest information about other events and activities in the area and our Award Winning Garden is worth seeing at any time of year. British Pathe Films
Relive the heyday of the newsreel every Thursday at Rutland County Museum.
Starting from 3rd February we will be showing classic films from the British Pathe archive. To accompany our current exhibition "We'll Eat Again!" we have a selection of films from World War II focusing on the Women's Land Army, Food Rationing and Dig for Victory Campaign.
The Museums Service is supported by The Friends of Rutland County Museum and Oakham Castle who have raised over £170,000 for the work of the Museum since 1973.
The Friends have helped the Museum to buy and fit out additional premises, facilities and exhibitions and to acquire many items for the Museum’s collections.
2009 saw the Friends celebrating their 50th Birthday and they helped mark it with a Norman day at The Castle.
