Rutland Community Safety Partnership

Strategic Assessment 2008
Introduction
When Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships (now known as Community Safety Partnerships) were established by the 1998 Crime and Disorder Act, they were required to undertake a three yearly crime and disorder audit. The purpose of this audit was to provide the Partnership with the information on crime and trends to enable the setting of targets.

In 2007, the government introduced a new set of Statutory Requirements for Community Safety Partnerships. One of these was the replacement of the three yearly Audits with an annual Strategic Assessment (SA). The purpose of the SA is to provide the Partnership with the information on crime, disorder and substance misuse to enable the settings of targets. the document also needs to reflect the views of the local community on matters which need to be prioritised.
