Food and Farming during World War Two


An evocative exhibition celebrating the 70th anniversary of the introduction of food rationing.
Discover how World War Two transformed our diets and the way we farmed.
Find out about the ‘Dig for Victory’ campaign and the role of the Women’s Land Army.

British Pathe Films
Relive the heyday of the newsreel every Thursday.
Starting from 3rd February we will be showing classic films from the British Pathe archive. To accompany our current exhibition we have a selection of films from World War II focusing on the Women's Land Army, Food Rationing and Dig for Victory Campaign.

Watch the Duchess of Gloucester visiting the Northamptonshire Institute of Agriculture where land girls are in training for the Land Army.

See the Harvest Thatching Girls, raking up the hay and making them into bales and using straw for thatching.

Glamour on the Farm - watch model Grace Hart feeding the pigs, ducks and chickens. Then see Grace modelling the latest designs by Louie at London Fashion show.
