Employment of Children
Byelaws on the Employment of Children 1998
The employment of school age children is governed by Law. Compulsory school aged children are not allowed to work whether paid or not unless they have a permit from the Local Authority.
Children under 13 years old are not permitted to work. The type of work that can be carried out and the number of hours a child can work for is age restricted.
Children who have a poor attendance at school will not be issued with a work permit.
It is the responsibility of the employer to ensure that the school age children they employ are registered with the Local Authority.
