Standards Recruitment

Catmose OfficesRutland County Council is looking for three independent volunteers to advise a panel responsible for monitoring the conduct (standards) of councillors.

The Localism Act 2011 makes Rutland County Council responsible for deciding how to deal with complaints that are made against county, town and parish councillors, and consultation with specially appointed independent members  is a key part of the new process.

The new rules come into effect from 1 July and the search for independent volunteers is now underway.

The Independent Persons will help monitor standards of behaviour.  They will be consulted on decisions to investigate complaints and before decisions are made after investigation.  They will be available also to be consulted by county and town or parish councillors who have complaints made against them.

Travel and subsistence expenses will be reimbursed.
